Manufacturing Manager

Machining


This client produces complex mechanical equipment and has been doing so for many decades. They have enjoyed profitability every single year of their existence. They are embarking on a new chapter to capitalize on a game changing market opportunity. The challenge is to produce machined product that requires more sophistication and complexity. The capital investment is made, now they need the Machining leader to manifest the goal of capturing a whole new sector of business.

This position is an intricate combination of strategic capability, tactical implementation and hands-on running of the machine shop. This machining expert will have a strong track record of delivering the numbers. Overseeing the Machine shop floor, CNC Programming and Engineering support, this manager will be responsible for on time delivery, product quality, productivity and cost reduction. The vision is to create a highly sophisticated, competitive world-class machining operation.

Obviously, our client is going to hire someone who has a strong machining background. This manager will have a history of leading organizations to reach the highest standards by consistently benchmarking performance to the industry’s best in class. This position requires a hands-on manager who enjoys being on the machine shop floor every day.

· Identify and implement best machining practices in all aspects of machining including CNC programming, prove out, tool design, fixturing, set up and operation.

· Stay current on trends and emerging technologies in machining to provide machinery recommendations as part of developing a multiyear Capital Equipment Plan.

· Constantly and consistently drive results and improve performance / metrics
· Develop high-performance teams.
· Foster a culture of lean and 6S, identify and remove elements of waste from the manufacturing value chain.
· Insist on safe practices throughout the machining operation and serve on safety team.
· Drive CAPA associated with product quality through the machining operation to ensure that any findings or non-conformances are addressed quickly.
· Manage the introduction of new CNC parts needed to support New Product Introduction projects

Minimal credentials to qualify:

Must have a proven track record of driving measurable improvements in productivity and quality in machining operations.
History of directly managing a significant size machine shop
Significant first-hand prior experience with machining, CNC programming, fixturing and tooling gained while in a similar machining leadership role.
Proficient in the use of MasterCam, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ERP.
ISO 9001.
U.S. Citizenship or Green Card status is required.
Compensation $90-120 with a management bonus

Transportation Manager

For a Fortune 500 company

Responsible for the daily details of ground, air, and water transportation of goods and materials. Manage a 25M budget. Staff of 3.

Develop relationships and negotiate favorable rates with 3PL carriers
Develop carrier score card to track and maintain performance KPI
Benchmark freight practices, processes, compliance, regulations, and market conditions to continuously improve performance
Implement transportation management system and function as the subject matter expert for the system

Oversee all facets of supplier quality. Identify, qualify, audit and manage vendor relations.
Evaluate, refine and define company expectations to suppliers
Continually assess supplier quality through developing score cards to ensure compliance to established standards

This start up just completed series A, already they have licensed their product and are now positioning themselves for ramp up to fulfill a backlog of orders. With two revenue streams and a transformational smart technology product, this company has successfully created a new market concept. Needless to say, there is hyper buzz about the product.
As employee #10, the mandate is to build every aspect of the supply chain infrastructure. It is essential the person hired have done supply chain start up infrastructure building before, ideally multiple times. To qualify, you need to have early stage start up experience, virtual electronics manufacturing experience, a track record of creating a supply chain infrastructure and a history of managing supply chain through aggressive ramp-up while sales expanded rapidly. This is an important qualifier.
The client’s supply chain is complex, diversified, international with varied commodities. Electronics and robotics are core commodities. Electronic / electromechanical system or subsystems product experience is expected.

Sr. Materials Manager

We are currently seeking a Sr. Materials Manager for our Portsmouth NH location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage, control and direct the materials planning, strategic  procurement, inventory control and shipping / receiving functions
Mentors and develops direct reports and entire Materials Team. Listens, supports, engages and encourages employee suggestions and input to achieve exceptional results.
Develops strategic partnerships with existing suppliers, assesses and manages supply chain risk, controls costs and positions the supply chain for future growth.
Uses project management tools and best practices to effectively oversee multiple projects across the materials group.
Collaborates with the management team to develop an inventory strategy that balances customer service levels and managed working capital targets.
Maintains strict control over gross inventory to minimize inventory levels while ensuring material availability to facilitate the highest level of customer satisfaction through consistent on-time delivery performance.
Establishes goals, sets priorities and coordinates all related activities within the Materials Group to ensure drive and focus towards meeting or exceeding established common business objectives.
Oversees and manages team expenses to meet budgets and financial objectives and proactively seeks opportunities to drive improvement of the operating results.
Develops and implements daily, monthly, and quarterly tracking metrics that pinpoint key accountabilities
Uses market knowledge to challenge the organization to minimize cost of material to be used as well as get a jump on long lead items to minimize expedite charges
Champions cost reduction efforts by establishing goals/metrics in regards to purchased items (components and raw) for the Purchasing team; establish expectations and hold team accountable to deliver
Holds our supplier base accountable for Quality and On Time Delivery as well as introduce “Lean” concepts to them with a focus on partnering with Teledyne to increase flexibility, improve delivery, and reduce cost through effective supply chain management
Becomes a change agent in initiating and improving processes and practices that are not working effectively


Education and Experience:
BA/BS degree in related field required
10+ years working experience in a manufacturing organization ideally with low volume high mix production.
Must have a minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in Procurement and Production Planning, with 3 years in a leadership capacity.
Demonstrated project management experience.
Possess technical aptitude to understand advanced level of product line knowledge.
Possess a continuous process improvement mindset with the ability to effectively lead and manage change.
Strong working knowledge of ERP system, IFS a plus
