Startup Supply Chain Director
A true ground-floor opportunity for a Startup Supply Chain expert.

This start up just completed series A, already they have licensed their product and are now positioning themselves for ramp up to fulfill a backlog of orders. With two revenue streams and a transformational smart technology product, this company has successfully created a new market concept. Needless to say, there is hyper buzz about the product.
As employee #10, the mandate is to build every aspect of the supply chain infrastructure. It is essential the person hired have done supply chain start up infrastructure building before, ideally multiple times. To qualify, you need to have early stage start up experience, virtual electronics manufacturing experience, a track record of creating a supply chain infrastructure and a history of managing supply chain through aggressive ramp-up while sales expanded rapidly. This is an important qualifier.
The client’s supply chain is complex, diversified, international with varied commodities. Electronics and robotics are core commodities. Electronic / electromechanical system or subsystems product experience is expected.

The plan is to keep the corporate team lean and mean. Startup mentality, energy and commitment is required. You will be part of the executive team expected to conquer great challenges as the company constantly positions itself to meet increasing demand.

Sr. Materials Manager

Teledyne DGO designs connection systems that transmit signals, data or power through challenging media, such as subsea oil wells; and through pressure barriers, such as the hull of a submarine. We engineer and manufacture our products as if lives and fortunes depended on them. Because they do.
We are currently seeking a Sr. Materials Manager for our Portsmouth NH location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage, control and direct the materials planning, strategic  procurement, inventory control and shipping / receiving functions
Mentors and develops direct reports and entire Materials Team. Listens, supports, engages and encourages employee suggestions and input to achieve exceptional results.
Develops strategic partnerships with existing suppliers, assesses and manages supply chain risk, controls costs and positions the supply chain for future growth.
Uses project management tools and best practices to effectively oversee multiple projects across the materials group.
Collaborates with the management team to develop an inventory strategy that balances customer service levels and managed working capital targets.
Maintains strict control over gross inventory to minimize inventory levels while ensuring material availability to facilitate the highest level of customer satisfaction through consistent on-time delivery performance.
Establishes goals, sets priorities and coordinates all related activities within the Materials Group to ensure drive and focus towards meeting or exceeding established common business objectives.
Oversees and manages team expenses to meet budgets and financial objectives and proactively seeks opportunities to drive improvement of the operating results.
Develops and implements daily, monthly, and quarterly tracking metrics that pinpoint key accountabilities
Uses market knowledge to challenge the organization to minimize cost of material to be used as well as get a jump on long lead items to minimize expedite charges
Champions cost reduction efforts by establishing goals/metrics in regards to purchased items (components and raw) for the Purchasing team; establish expectations and hold team accountable to deliver
Holds our supplier base accountable for Quality and On Time Delivery as well as introduce “Lean” concepts to them with a focus on partnering with Teledyne to increase flexibility, improve delivery, and reduce cost through effective supply chain management
Becomes a change agent in initiating and improving processes and practices that are not working effectively

Education and Experience:
BA/BS degree in related field required
10+ years working experience in a manufacturing organization ideally with low volume high mix production.
Must have a minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in Procurement and Production Planning, with 3 years in a leadership capacity.
Demonstrated project management experience.
Possess technical aptitude to understand advanced level of product line knowledge.
Possess a continuous process improvement mindset with the ability to effectively lead and manage change.
Strong working knowledge of ERP system, IFS a plus
